Happy Halloween!

I've been a little busy so it's been a while since I've made cookies... but my sister-in-law sent a picture of these skeleton cookies from a "Cheryl's" catalog, so I had to try them. How easy with only 2 colors and no flooding! Also a good excuse to try a new chocolate cookie recipe. They turned out pretty yummy. On their own they taste kind of like brownies, and frosted I think they taste like hostess cupcakes. The best part is that they keep their shape perfectly after baking!

I know, some of the them look like alien skeletons because I made the heads too big...

Also, I forgot to post these cookies from a couple months ago (pre-baby)
A photographer in Annapolis asked me to do these for the grand opening of her new studio. I love how the colors turned out.

Fireworks and Flags

Have a happy and safe 4th everyone!

I had to send some more cookies to Gram because she was a bit upset that everyone ate hers at the reunion :) so I made a few patriotic teacups and teapots too!

Happy Birthday Gram!

We just got back from a week-long beach vacation/ family reunion where we celebrated my Grandmother's 92nd birthday. It was an awesome time and I loved seeing my cousins, 2nd cousins, aunts and uncles, and of course, Gram. To celebrate her birthday I made her these little teacup and teapot cookies.

Gram loves a good cup of coffee, but hates drinking it out of a mug. Whenever she visits any of us, we are always sure to have a pretty little teacup for her to drink from. My Aunt even gave her one for her birthday so she could have a teacup at the beach. She is too cute... I love that lady.

Happy Birthday Gram!

Soccer cookies

I got to make some cookies for my neighbor's birthday today. He is this really great kid who is always polite and friendly, and he does a great job mowing our lawn, and he kind of looks like Leonardo DiCaprio! :)

He plays soccer for his high school, so his mom suggested soccer cookies which I was very excited to do. I found out what cleats he wears, and tried to copy them, and the T design is his school logo. Also his name starts with T so I though it would work.

These were really fun to do especially because I got to use my Kopykake projector. Believe me, those soccer balls would have taken twice as long and not looked half as good if I had to do it freehand. I love my cookie machine!!

Flower Babies

My Bible study group had a surprise shower for my friend Amy last week. It was a lot of fun to celebrate with her!

I made cupcakes, but I couldn't resist making cookies too.

So I decided to do little cookie toppers on the cupcakes.

They turned out cute, but I have to say that I ate one of the cookies the next day and almost broke a tooth biting into the face! I didn't see anyone in pain the night before so maybe it's just because this one was sitting out an extra day. I'll have to make the icing a little thinner next time just in case.

Spring is here!

You wouldn't know it because of the winter coats I had to put on myself and the kids yesterday, or the fire in the fireplace tonight, or the snow in the forecast for Sunday, but it really is Spring! So to celebrate, I made these cookies for a friend's mother who is having a dinner party this weekend.

Here they are in the box so you can see them better.

I loved doing these butterflies! I got the design from a tutorial (click here to see it) on Sweetopia.net. This is also a great tutorial for how to decorate cookies in general if anyone's interested in trying it.
